Sushi is one of those things that took hold slowly in the US, but take hold it did and it never let go. In Okinawa, Kami Sushi prides itself in its traditional offerings and also items that appeal to Westerners. Kami Sushi has two locations in the Mihama area of Chatan, each with its own specialty. In Mihama American Village Okinawa Kami Sushi has a spacious interior with a complete sushi menu featuring 20 creative rolls. The place is always crowded, mostly with foreign diners who enjoy watching the chefs preparing sumptuous sushi creations and other dishes such as delicious tempura in the open kitchen. Kami Sushi’s other location, Ryukyu Robata II, is an izakaya, a Japanese eatery where folks go to drink, eat and relax. Ryukyu Robata, located just outside American Village near the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort, also serves sushi, but the food menu includes innovative Okinawan fusion dishes featuring island-fresh meats and seafood that go great with their wide selection of beer, awamori and other alcoholic beverages.
