Awamori Festival invites to Depot Island Boardwalk
This Saturday is a party time on the popular seaside Depot Island Boardwalk as Okinawan awamori distillers join forces with local businesses for an Awamori Fest.
The festival starts at 14:00 and runs through 20:00.
The participants will set up tables to serve Awamori drinks, cocktails, and bombs, plus some finger food to match the drinks. At the event, visitors can purchase tickets in ¥1,500 sets, with each ticket a face value of ¥300, cash only, please. The tickets are used to purchase drinks and food at the event.
The event's goal is to increase the popularity of Awamori and introduce new varieties and ways to use the Okinawan staple.
Live entertainment is on stage all day, and at the end of the festival, the regular Depot Island fireworks shoot off at 20:00 over the ocean.
Organizers urge participants to drink responsibly and not drink and drive. Taxis and daiko are readily available. People who look young should prepare to show an ID when asked.
