Nago Cherry Blossom Festival marks start of Okinawan spring

Spring shows up early in Okinawa—and Nago Cherry Blossom Festival 2026 is the perfect excuse to chase it.

Every winter, Nago City transforms into a sea of soft pink as Kanhizakura bloom across the hills around Nago Castle Park. Stroll along lantern-lit paths, snap dreamy photos under bright tropical blossoms, and soak up the lively festival vibe with local food stalls, family-friendly events, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the city and ocean.

Whether you’re coming for a romantic evening walk, a fun weekend outing, or that “first sakura of the year” moment, Nago’s cherry blossoms deliver pure Okinawa magic—earlier than anywhere else in Japan.

Temporary free Parking is available at Nago Fishing Port with a shuttle bus service between the port and festival venue. Buses run about every 20 minutes from 12:00 to 16:00. In addition, during these two days the Nago main road will be closed to vehicles because of parades and other events held all day.

Date: Jan. 31 (Sat) – Feb 1 (Sun), 2026
Time: 13:00-20:30
