13th All-Island Summer Bullfighting Tournament

Experience the thrill of Okinawa’s traditional bullfighting at the 13th All-Island Summer Bullfighting Tournament, happening Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Ishikawa Multi-Purpose Dome in Uruma City. One of the top events in the Okinawa bullfighting calendar, the exciting summer event features powerful clashes between champion bulls at Okinawa’s main bullfighting venue.

This unique and powerful tradition pits bull against bull in head-to-head matches that showcase strength, endurance, and fighting spirit — no matadors or bloodletting involved.

Okinawan bullfighting, or “tōgyū,” is a centuries-old tradition rooted in local culture and rural communities. Bulls are carefully raised and trained by their handlers and treated with great care and respect. Each match is a strategic push for dominance, filled with tension and energy that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.

The gates open at 14:00, with the opening ceremony at 15:30 and the main matches kicking off at 16:00. Please note, this year’s start time has been adjusted to prevent heatstroke during the summer heat.

Don’t miss this dynamic showcase of strength, tradition, and local pride!
