Every Saturday at 20:00, the sky over American Village in Chatan lights up with dazzling fireworks launched from offshore. This beloved weekly tradition began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, when travel restrictions and economic hardship left the area empty. In a show of resilience and hope, local business owners in Depot Island came together to fund the fireworks as a symbol of support and recovery.

Now a fixture of weekend nights, the fireworks have become a must-see event for both locals and tourists. And this summer, there's even more to enjoy! With Chatan’s biggest summer event, the Seaport Carnival, canceled due to traffic concerns, its budget has been redirected to expand the fireworks schedule. From July through September, fireworks will also light up the skies every Tuesday at 20:00.
