Yomitan Festival 2026 Celebrates Local Culture and Music
The 52nd Yomitan Festival brings two exciting days of traditional performing arts and live entertainment to the Yomitan Village Athletic Field on October 24 and 25, 2026.
One of Okinawa’s largest community festivals, the annual celebration showcases the rich cultural heritage of Yomitan through traditional music, dance and dynamic group performances. A highlight of the festival is the spectacular creative performance Shinkōsen, inspired by the trading ships that once connected the Ryukyu Kingdom with China. Featuring music, dance and a magnificent ship-shaped float, the performance vividly re-enacts an important chapter of Okinawan history.
Visitors can also explore exhibitions and festival stalls while enjoying the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by performers and residents from across the village. At the end of each evening, a dazzling fireworks display will light up the sky above the festival grounds.
The festivities begin early with the 10th Okinawan Dream “Concert for One Million People for Peace in Yomitan.” Starting at 17:00 on Friday, October 23, this free outdoor concert features numerous artists, including popular Okinawan bands DIAMANTES and D-51. Through music, the concert shares a message of peace from Yomitan with audiences throughout Okinawa and beyond.
