The majority of fish brought to the port are tuna, squid, marlin, mahi-mahi and diamondback squid, the largest such catch in Japan. The Itoman Haaree, a dragon boat race, is held on May 4 according to the lunar calendar to pray for safe voyages and a bountiful catch.

This historic shrine, made of natural limestone, is still used by uminchu who pray for safe and profitable voyages and as a site for religious ceremonies preceding the annual Itoman Tug-of-War and Itoman Haree (dragon boat race).

A former American military housing area, Minatogawa Stateside Town is a neighborhood with rows of some 70 single-story concrete houses. The area is dotted with uniquely themed restaurants, cafés, sweets shops and sundry stores, making it an interesting place to visit for both locals and tourists.

野鳥の森自然公園

Yacho-no-mori Nature Park

Located near Uken Beach, the park is a habitat for wild birds and natural plant life. The observation platform offers a view of the 4.7-kilometer-long interisland causeway and Kin Bay.
