Experience the magic of Okinawa after dark at Jomon Night 2026 (縄文ナイト), a special summer evening where history, nature, and live jazz come together at the Ireibaru Archaeological Site Park in Chatan.

This free event invites visitors to explore the nationally designated archaeological site while admiring the illuminated sagaribana (powderpuff tree), one of Okinawa's most mysterious flowers. Blooming only at night, each fragrant blossom opens around sunset, reaches its peak beauty between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m., and gently falls before sunrise, earning it the nickname "the phantom flower."

The Ireibaru Archaeological Site preserves nearly 7,000 years of history, from the Jomon period through the Gusuku era. During Jomon Night, atmospheric lighting recreates the ancient ambiance of the site, offering visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy Okinawa's cultural heritage in an unforgettable nighttime setting.

Music lovers can also enjoy live performances by the MB Gallery Quartet, who will play its sophisticated jazz twice during the evening — from 6:00–6:45 p.m. and again from 8:00–8:45 p.m. Food trucks will be on-site throughout the event, serving dinner or snacks while listening to live music beneath the illuminated blossoms.
