Chatan Seaport Carnival – Silver Week Special

The 39th Chatan Seaport Carnival continues with unforgettable evenings on September 22 and 23 at Sunset Beach in Chatan. This annual event is a highlight of Okinawa’s Silver Week, bringing together traditional culture and summer fun by the sea.

Today, September 22, the festival programs begin at 19:20 with an official opening ceremony, followed by a lively Eisan performance by a Chatan Children’s Eisa group Cha-Ashibi. At 19:45 the Chatan Youth Association takes over the stage with a dynamic synchronized drumming and dance. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks show lighting up the night sky over the beach at 20:00.

The fireworks will be shot from the area south of the Sunset Beach.

The excitement continues tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23, with another 19:20 opening ceremony, after which the Eguchi Youth Association will showcase their powerful Eisa rhythms, followed by the Yagaru Youth Association’s energetic performance at 19:45. Once again, the evening finale will be fireworks at 20:00 ending to two evenings of Eisa and merrymaking.

The Chatan Seaport Carnival offers a unique chance to enjoy Okinawan performing arts in a festive seaside setting. Bring family and friends, savor local festival foods, and experience the energy and tradition of Eisa under the fireworks. Admission is free, so don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate culture and community in the heart of Chatan!
