The Kaichu-doro -- an inter-island causeway that cuts through the shallow water between the main island of Okinawa and Henza Island --- is a popular choice for a scenic drive. A roadside park situated at the midpoint of the causeway has a concrete shoreline and a park area with a lush lawn and benches, making it an ideal place for picnics.
Of the three beaches on Hamahiga Island, this is the only natural beach that is managed and equipped with restrooms, showers and a shop. Since it is a relatively unknown spot that is not very crowded even at the height of the summer season, it is recommended for people who want to spend some leisure time on a beach.
